23:59 is the feature installation for the Rising Spaces exhibition in Berlin, running 1. July to 8. August 2026.

Designed, built, and installed by the ACHRONOS collective, the 15-minute loop symbolizes the journey of a club night in Berlin through its light, sound, and movement.

Two kinetic rings of eight dichroic petals, each petal with two axes of movement, surround two Minuit Une Photon lighting fixtures. This enables the IVL laser technology of the Photons to reflect and refract off of the moving petals, distorting the beams as they move through the haze. The remainder of the lighting package is focused on the large dichroic pyramids of varying sizes suspended throughout the room, some static and some also with movement. All of the elements are dynamically connected together through lengths of kinked electrical light produced by FCOB LED strips.

Second String Studios was responsible for the design and build of the custom kinetics system, including the multi-axis petal design, custom driver PCBs, and firmware. Monika Bansal contributed the mechanical design of the ring, the mounting system, and the individual dichroic petal design.

Second String Studios also designed and produced the LED drivers for controlling up to 200m of LED strips per-output. Features include: four output ports, individual power and fusing per-output, fan-cooled, Art-Net/sACN/DDP control, and a custom truss-mounted enclosure.
