e.V. Brooklyn

2026 Sixteen miniature lasers with individually-controllable pan, tilt, and beam

Sixteen PTL fixtures were installed in e.V., a new collective and private event space in Brooklyn, New York. Consisting of ten wall-mounted and six ceiling-mounted devices, the installation is the first application of the PTL fixture designed and built by Second String Studios.

With individual control of each laser’s pan, tilt, and beam intensity, the array can present itself as one large unit with coordinated movements, or as many individual pieces.

Second String Studios was also responsible for all on-site build, install, and initial lighting design.

Because e.V. showcases multiple art disciplines, this new system is designed to be multipurpose. Since the system itself is controllable over standard Art-Net, it can be incorporated into other art in the space through a lighting desk or more creatively-focused software like TouchDesigner.
