This piece was custom-built to be the centerpiece of RepRisk’s Berlin office. Every step - concept, design, build, install, and programming - was done in-house at Second String Studios based on the client’s preference.
Each letter of the company name is constructed out of light-diffusing material and mounted to the front of their existing moss-covered acoustic paneling. The internal LEDs are fully addressable and mapped to their physical location. The mount and cabling system allows the paneling to stay on the wall for the whole process, as well as be easily removable for future disassembly and transport.
The piece runs automatically, turning on to start the work day and turning off after hours. It cycles through over a dozen presets at a slow cadence, giving a new look to the room sporadically throughout the day.
Manual customization is also possible. The control interface is simple enough for employees in the office to build and customize their own patterns that will appear in the daily rotation. A hardware switch is also available for quick access to controls.
